Bruce ForsytheThe basics of the NFL kneeling syndrome Let me describe the basic reality of the NFL kneeling syndrome. Because this is really a fairly simple concept to grasp. Here's my take. You see, if I am a fan of football, I have to pay 125 or more dollars for a couple of tickets, I have to pay 40 bucks to park, I have to pay 20 bucks for a hot dog and drink, I have to do this because you the football player are getting paid several million dollars a year. Now as a player your job is to perform for me, your job is to run, and jump, and kick and pass, and perform with your physical skills for me the guy in the stands. That's a job you took, and that you got hired for. I did not, and do not spend that kind of money to watch you describe to me your political affiliations, nor what your opinion is on society good or bad. I am not paying you to do that, I am paying you to play football. We have a contract you see, and in that contract it does not say, I need to hear or see where you stand on those issues. If I hire an electrician to work at my house, I pay him to do so, I do not expect him to kneel at my house when he hears the national anthem and tell me about his political opinions. I pay him to do his job, period. Your job is to perform on the football field for me the fan who is paying to watch you exhibit you physical skills. That's it, end of story. Your opinion from an intellectual acumen perspective means very little to nothing to me. In fact it would be fair to say that the electrician who I hire, has to have an intellectual skill set to do his job safely and correctly that far exceeds your intellectual skill set you need to run receiver patterns in football. So why you would think I want to hear your opinion on anything is beyond me. What i am due is your performing in front of me and for me on the football field. It really is very basic. I have zero desire to hear a sport stars opinion anymore then I want to hear a Hollywood actors opinion. The actor has a job, and you have a job, just like my job, just like the electrician, the plumber, the trash collector or the guy at the power plant. For some reason, people who are actors think their intellectual opinion is something I want to hear, it isn't and neither is yours, or your demonstrations of political or social conditions. You Mr. Football player have an entire off season, to wave whatever flag you want stomp your feet for what ever cause you want, and scream at the top of the mountain what ever your opinions are. You do not have the option to do so, on my dime, while I am paying your salary on the football field. Shut up and do your job. For the life of me I cannot figure out how both the coaches and the owners of these football teams have failed to grasp this and understand where I the fan stands. But I will tell you that mistake is going to cost the NFL millions and millions of dollars, and we may be seeing the beginning of the end for the NFL if someone (as in the commish) doesn't get a handle on this, and quickly.

Chris FosterManage Chris Foster Chris Foster New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft testified Tuesday that his former star tight end Aaron Hernandez told him he was innocent when asked if he was involved in a 2013 killing. Kraft was called by the prosecution in Hernandez's murder trial over the June 17, 2013, slaying of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee. He at times seemed uncomfortable on the stand, even when he was asked where he worked. He first said 1 Patriot Place, the address of Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots play. When asked what he did at work, he replied, "Whatever they ask me to do." Then, asked if he ran a business, he replied: "We're a packaging and paper business and private equity, and we have two sports teams." He first listed the New England Revolution soccer team, then the Patriots. Kraft was asked about the events of June 19, two days after the killing. By then, Kraft said, there was a strong media presence at Gillette Stadium, including helicopters, which were covering the investigation. Kraft said he found Hernandez in a weight room working out and pulled him into an adjacent office for a private talk. "I understood there was an incident that had transpired, and I wanted to know whether he was involved, and if he was, any player that comes into our system, I consider part of our extended family, and I wanted to get him help," he said. "What did he say?" prosecutor William McCauley asked. VIDEOFiancee Says Hernandez Was Intoxicated Before Slaying "He said he was not involved. That he was innocent and that he hoped that the time of the murder incident came out because he said he was in a club," Kraft said. Prosecutors have said Hernandez was at a bar earlier in the evening, then drove to Boston with two friends, picked up Lloyd and killed him in an industrial park. Kraft said his conversation with Hernandez lasted five to 10 minutes. Later, he saw him one last time at the stadium. "He hugged and kissed me and thanked me for my concern," Kraft said. Hernandez signed a $40 million contract with the Patriots in 2012, but as defense lawyer Michael Fee questioned him, Kraft said he couldn't remember whether it ran through the 2018 season. "I don't get into the details. I just knew we signed him," he said, adding that Hernandez was signed because he was "a very good player." Hernandez watched closely during Kraft's testimony, which lasted a little over 30 minutes. Next to the stand was the Patriots' director of security, Mark Briggs. He said he also had a conversation with Hernandez on June 19. "I asked him why he'd lawyered up," he said. The judge struck the comment from the record and instructed the jury that citizens do not have any obligation to speak with police. Briggs said Hernandez told him that he had been with Lloyd at a club and they went their separate ways, so Hernandez gave him keys to a vehicle. He told him those keys were found in Lloyd's pocket, Briggs said. Investigators did find keys to an SUV Hernandez rented in Lloyd's pocket. Briggs said he asked Hernandez if he was involved in Lloyd's killing, and Hernandez replied no. He said he then looked in his eyes and asked if he was telling the truth. "He swore on his baby's life that he was telling the truth," Briggs said. Briggs said the following day, Hernandez showed up at Gillette Stadium, and Briggs asked him to leave, which Hernandez did. "You asked him to leave the stadium because his presence there was bad for business?" Fee asked. "That is correct," Briggs replied. Hernandez was arrested June 26 in Lloyd's slaying. Less than two hours later, he was cut from the team. Also Tuesday, lawyers said they expect to wrap up their cases next week. McCauley named for the judge just a handful of additional witnesses to call and said he expected to rest Thursday. He did not name any other members of the Patriots organization or anyone affiliated with the NFL. That likely means that Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Miami Dolphins player Mike Pouncey and others listed as potential witnesses will not be called. Hernandez lawyer James Sultan asked the judge to hear arguments on some pending issues Friday and said he expected to put on witnesses and finish Monday. Both sides will also deliver closing arguments, then deliberations will begin.

Matthew PaniaguaAt least he's trying out there. He's played decent at times... the guys who shouldn't even be on the field is Williams and Wilkerson sometimes I forget they're even on the team. I mean talk about guys who've done absolutely nothing for us. We got the rookies looking like studs in the secondary but man if we actually had a pass rush this defense would be a lot better than what it is now.

Lauryn Liggett CountrymanPutting my proverbial money where my mouth is: (Oversimplified Indeed and yes I will volunteer my time and resource anyway I can.) NFL@NFL NFL Players Association Problem: “Systematic Oppression” Cause: Wow, that’s a big one. Honestly, I think it’s best to say that everyone shares ownership and responsibility. While identifying the “cause” is critical to permanent “solution” getting stuck in these weeds too long prevents positive improvement. Suffice to say: what we have been doing is not working and expecting government to be able to solve the problem has proven ineffective. Result: large segments of society who have: 1. Loss of Hope – (opportunity creates hope) 2. Loss of worth, value, pride and respect In: a. In self – thus.. b. Others… thus C “Life” Valuing Self, Community and Country are all critical Need: 1. Opportunity- Jobs & Income 2. Education & Skills – to perform the job 3. Mentors & Coaches (Bosses, Supervisors) to: model teach, praise, inspire and lift up to do the job – work ethic – team – greater good 4. Infrastructure and supports provide “ability” a. Nutrition b. Transportation c. Day Care d. Medical / HealthCare Challenge: 1. Companies and Individuals willing to invest and take the risk. There is no “instant gratification” There will be no instant ROI but over time the ROI “could be” , should be “exponential”. 2. Overcoming (often 3 generations) of hopelessness, loss of value, worth pride, sense of entitlement and diminished work ethic. Idea: “Block by Block – Team by Team working together to improve” take smaller bites of the apple to actually make a difference. NFLteams and NFL Players Association instead of taking a Knee – Utilize your resources both financial and to “celebrity voice”: (Be the Change you want to see) 1. Go into their respective communities and build a team (Businesses) 2. Identify those communities’ specific and individual needs a. What businesses are there? (not much in many of the Chicago neighborhoods I have been to and worked in) i. Examples: Private Education, Training, Certification, Grocery Stores, Banks & Financial, Child Care & Elder Care, Infrastructure & building and construction, Safety, health & beauty, clothing 3. Open businesses that fulfill needs. 4. Employ individuals within the identified segment(s) area, block or community. a. Provide the needed: education, training, certification to perform task b. Provide Mentors & Coaches (Bosses, Supervisors) to: model teach, inspire, motivate and lift up to do the job – (work ethic – team – greater good) 5. Lobby for welfare and benefits reform that rewards efforts and doesn’t take away benefits giving true hope at upward mobility to those willing to work for it. Yes, oversimplified for sure...but it's a jumping in point that will DO SOMETHING GOOD! Donald J. Trump wouldn't it be possible to give them a tax credit if they utilized their resources this way? A "Reagan-esk trickle down approach. If you can't adopt and get on=board with something along these lines, you don't "really" care (just want attention) and have no right to protest or complain.

Harley MF YoungI get that the ball, "bobbled". With that said, I believe that call should have been this. The offensive player lost control of the ball and regained possession going into the end zone. Therefore the call stands, touchdown JETS.... There were a lot of no calls on the Patriots offensive line and I believe there were a couple no calls on offense of pass interference against Gronk. This league is crooked when it comes to the Patriots. If Austin would have been Gronk, it would be a touchdown.

Ed PhillipsThey were robbed. Austin Seferian-Jenkins bobbled the ball but had regained possession of the ball prior to rolling out of bounds in the endzone. Another game changing bad call that magically always go in favor of the Patriots. As announcer Dan Fouts said "That was the worst call I have ever seen."

3 days ago   ·  5
Avatar

Russ DamonLet's be honest Pats are not the Pats of old at least right now. McCown played a lot better than I expected but also had some great catches. The first pick was Robbys fault. While I eat my words on McCown I still believe we should be starting Petty. McCown is not the QB of the future and we need to start learning what we have and what we need to get. Jet fans let's be honest. I want to win as much as you but a first round playoff loss (if we get that far) does us no good.

Paul JosephBoils down to this, DON'T LEAVE THE GAME IN THE REFS HANDS... regardless, It wasn't the refs! It was the idiots in NYC who conduct the "booth reviews" and "challenges" that sent the zebras misinformation... this system is flawed... ball crosses plane=TD. Anything after that is irrelevant. That O line is missing blocks.!

4 days ago   ·  1

Chance KasperskiHey I'm not gonna sit here and beat up on McCown, he's done a great job. But the big turnovers in key moments. That pick before half time on Sunday, the two turnovers that almost cost us the Jags game. Yes we had a lot of yards on Sunday but only 17 points, the offense hasn't really improved at any point so far. Is it about time to give Petty a chance and see what he can do? I mean we can't score more than 20 points in regulation so I think it's about that time...

Patrick NorrisThe commentary has changed. A lot more people supporting the team. Maybe it took the refs to galvanize the Jets supporters or maybe it's that this team is playing like a team, fighting for the ball, making plays, and a not too shabby QB performance. We seem to be out of our funk.
