James ArringtonThe top 3 in any order should be Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and Emmitt Smith. The only RBs to win a championship and retire as the all-time leading rusher.

John RittwageHis greatest run was only three yards on the goal line. The ball was hiked and handed off to Brown who went initially over the left tackle, bounced off to the left end, changed the direction 180 degrees, went to the right tackle bounced off and went over the right end for a touch down. During that time 9 of the 11 players on defense actually made contact with him before he went over the goal line standing up!

Mark SchrickelAny list that has Barry Sanders outside of the top 3, let alone at #8 is a complete joke. I'm sure ranking him that low is part of the plan to get people talking about their list, but #8 is a complete insult to what the man accomplished. Just my opinion.

Gary Daniel CookHard to argue with any on the list. Barry Sanders and everyone mentioned can fill the shoes as one of the greatest. Another not so popular name "before" LA was OJ Simpson. I never saw anyone so fluid on the football field and on a losing team

Lynda JuhaszBeing from Ohio I think Jim Brown should be #1 He was outstanding and you have to remember back when he played they only played 13 games in the regular season so he did more in less games then the more recent RB and that is my humble opinion

Phillip DabitI don't agree with Sayers or Earl Cambell being that high. I do believe they got it right with Jim Brown being number 1 but Barry should be top 3 at least. Payton was also great as well as OJ and Dickerson. I think Marshall Faulk got screwed out of this list though. Sayers & Cambell only had so many thousand yard season or total rushing yards in a time when rushing was everything doesn't do much for me. Were they top 10 of all time, maybe, but I wouldn't put them ahead of Dickerson or sanders for sure! Just my opinion

Bruce GreigJim Brown was great and fun to watch. He was on one championship team, the 1964 Brown's. They beat the Colts 27 - 0. Jim did not score a TD. Gary Collins caught three TD passes from QB Frank Ryan, Lou Groza kicked two field goals. Jim threw women off balconies. A player and thug.

Dick BarstowI watched Jim Brown for his entire career, and he is the best. He never missed a game in 9 years. He retired in his prime. He was a few days late to early training camp and Art Modell told him he was being fined for each day late. He told Modell he wouldn't be there at all, he's retiring effective that day. 🙂

Mike Big-Mike CouchThis lost any kind of credibility with me when I saw Sanders at #8. For me, I grew up in Chicago so Payton is the best I ever saw. That being said, I wasn't old enough to see Brown play. Coincidentally, I'm a Browns fan.

Steven FovozzoAll great running backs. Each one made the most of their situations/teams. I just wish people would stop saying, "if this person played in a different era or team, they would be the greatest of all time." In order to be considered the greatest I believe one has to play in the most important game which is the NFL championship or Super Bowl and be a major contributor to help winning it. All have had great seasons with their stats but I can't see O.J Simpson, Eric Dickerson or LaDainian Tomlinson making the top 10. NFL.com got Jim Brown's spot right. He racked up more yards in a 14 game season and won a Championship.

Avatar

Tim StankiewiczI hate people that compare these RBs to the players today. You can literally do that to any previously dominant athlete. The goat is considered the most dominant in their respective time. Jim Brown did that better than anyone. Stop comparing them to the better athletes today
